Happy Birthday Jack!

Our sweet, mischievous, funny, compassionate, loving, smart and goofy boy is 4 years old today! Where, oh where, has the time gone? Seriously, it seems like moments ago that he was the same age and size as the twins and now he is, without a doubt, a little boy. He is the best big brother imaginable and the world is a far better place because he was born! Happy Birthday Jackson!

Double Trouble

Well its official! We not only have 2 sitters, we have 2 crawlers! Lord help us because these boys are going to be trouble. Seriously, we can already tell that they are going to get into EVERYTHING and will just encourage each other to push the limits :) Don't they already have the faces of troublemakers??!!We're a little behind in our blogging and didn't actually do 6 month updates. The twins will be 8 months on September 3rd!!! Where has the time gone? At the 6 month check up they both weighed a little more than 20 pounds and were over 27 inches long! They are big boys!

People still ask us if they are identical (they aren't) but to us they look and act so differently. They really are just brothers born on the same day :)

This is Will, also affectionately called Willie G (in fact, Jack only calls him that!):
Will is still intense. Super intense. He is forceful in everything he does and every look he gives. He loves his toys and the dogs and basically thinks that Jack is the funniest person on the planet. He loves to eat and will eat almost everything but I can see picky eating habits starting to develop :( He sat up first, crawled first, pulled himself up first, and will most definitely walk first. He has the cutest, most genuine laugh and he wrinkles his nose when he is really trying to smile. He still has red hair, blue eyes, and pale skin and completely melts me every time I look at him.

This is Henry:
Henry is so so sweet. He has such a gentle spirit and looks at you like he knows way more at his age than he should. He loves to be held and cuddled and hates to be left in a room by himself. He also worships Jack and bounces up and down as soon as he sees him. He loves to eat and doesn't really care what you feed him as long as it comes as fast as he can swallow! His hair has lightened considerably this summer from being in the sun but his eyes are still dark brown. He is also just like his daddy because he gets a tan after being outside for 5 minutes with 50 spf sunscreen on! Every time this child gives me one of his slow deliberate glances I am floored at my love for him.

As sweet as these boys are, there is one thing that continues to challenge us--SLEEP! Turns out that sleep training twins is no easy task. "Crying it out" doesn't really work when the other baby falls asleep. When one wakes up, the other is frequently awoken either by his brother or by one of us trying to get the awake one out of the nursery! On top of that, they are still taking short naps. We are lucky if they sleep more than an hour but most naps are still only 40 minutes, no matter what we do to lengthen them. On top of all of that, they finally figured out that they share a room so they often laugh at each other through the slats in the cribs instead of trying to sleep! Its funny and sweet but at this point I would much rather have them sleep!!! They were actually great sleepers until we went on vacation which also happened to coincide with teething (they each have 2 now) so we are trying desperately to overcome the extreme fussiness that teething brought on and get back on a normal schedule!

Blast Off!

Papa bought Jack a super cool rocket and it instantly became Jack's favorite toy. A foam rocket was placed on the base and Jack would jump on the launcher, sending the rocket 10-15 feet in the air. This literally kept him occupied for hours! Its hard to tell, but this picture was taken mid-jump :)

Family Time!

The best part about our Michigan trip is the family time. Jack adores his Nana and Papa :)Uncle Dwayne and Aunt Tricia love love love the twins! At least there is more baby to go around!
Will and his doppelganger Uncle Bob. Mommy's grandpa passed away when she was 6 years old so having his brothers have always helped to fill the void.

Rock a Bye Baby

Ah the boat! All three of our boys love it! Just look at this cute little sailor :) Henry was ready for a day on the water. Will was much more interested in whatever Jack was doing.

Jack was being the typical goofball with Chyann, complete with Orea mustache!
Once we actually got moving though, the babies couldn't resist the calming effects of the rocking boat. Both were out like lights in minutes!

On the Road Again...

We headed to Michigan for the 4th summer in a row but this year we had a little more baggage! We drove 20 hours with 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 teenager and a fraction of our sanity ;) The trip was surprisingly smooth and we really had such a great time at Nana and Papa's lake house.

We made it there in time for the Venetian Festival and of course hit up the carnival. Jack was way more interested in the games than the rides but we did convince him to ride a few.
No carnival would be complete without cotton candy!

Feeding Time!

When we found out we were expecting twin boys, many people tried to warn us about the amount of food they would consume. Its not that we didn't believe them. I mean, we already had one boy so it couldn't be that much more, right? WRONG! Turns out Jack ate like a bird compared to Will and Henry. These boys LOVE LOVE LOVE baby food and can't get enough of it. I make baby food for them using my Beaba but I couldn't keep up with their demand. We started buying organic baby food to supplement what I was making at home but we couldn't stock up quickly enough. Daddy then decided to order baby food from Amazon and this what arrived on our doorstep one afternoon. This is only 3 weeks worth!!!!At least I know they like it!

Seeking One Life Assistant...

So, we're back...kind of. Life has seriously been crazy and I barely have time to pee during the day, much less blog. Between vacations, work, teething and crawling (yes, you read that correctly) and everyday life, I feel like I am constantly playing "catch up". Hopefully I will get caught up soon! In the meantime, here is a picture of Henry and William cuddling on the floor :)
